Non surgical treatment for lower eyelid bags!

Plastic surgery is becoming non-surgical!

For decades the words plastic surgery have been associated with images of gowned surgeons performing surgical operations to enhance beauty and remove traces of aging. The most important change that has happened recently is use of non surgical techniques where only surgery was effective in the past, thus avoiding surgery, its associated risks, down time and risks.

One such development in the treatment of lower eye lid bags is using the novel approach with Restylane fillers to the lower lid hollows and the eyebags, producing results similar to surgery without the down time and associated risks of surgery. There is now a trend for reserving formal lower lid blepharoplasty surgery to advanced cases and to treat the rest with injection of Restylane.

Is the procedure painful?
No, the area on the lower lid is very easily made numb by the application of anaesthetic cream so the injection is painless.

What are the side effects?
There can be some bruising and a little swelling in the area, easily covered by make up if needed. Generally lasting 2-3 days, it rarely can last  longer. Some lumpiness can be felt for a few days. The Restylane attracts water and within days the swelling subsides and the filled area becomes smoother, merging with the rest of the tissues.

How do I prepare for the treatment?

Stop using aspirin for 2 weeks as it reduces the chances of bruising. There may be some lumpiness, so you may need to adjust your social calender a bit.

How long does the effect last?
The effect lasts about 9-12 months

Can the Restylane injection be reversed, if I do not like the result?
Yes. In the unlikely event that you do not like the result, Restylane can be reversed by injection of a special agent to dissolve it.
