Pixel treatments

Solution to restore a youthful appearance to a prematurely aged skin or sun-damaged skin.

Pixel Laser is a skin resurfacing procedure

While results can be excellent, laser resurfacing with conventional technology can be painful and have extended downtime. In the past, people have sometimes been housebound and unable to return for work for weeks and months at a time.

All this has changed recently with the introduction of the fractional ablative laser, the Pixel. This has made the laser skin resurfacing much more effective with minimal side effects and minimal downtime. The technology has moved from ‘bulk’ ablation to ‘localized, targeted ablation.

How does the Pixel achieve these advantages?

With the pixel technology, the laser is delivered in columns rather than layers with the columns being referred to as ‘pixels’ like in a digital photograph. Pixel treatment is based on the principle of microthermal treatment zones. The laser pulse creates uniform tiny ‘pixels’ of treated zones, removing the epidermis and upper dermis, leaving surrounding tissues untouched and intact. The treated pixels trigger the body’s natural healing process, stimulating new healthy skin tissue and increased collagen formation, with the small bridges of untreated areas acting as a reservoir for more effective and rapid tissue healing and collagen production. The result is new healthier, smoother tissues in place of skin imperfections.

The safety of pixel makes it a suitable laser to treat the eyelid areas and the face and the rest of the body.

What are the benefits of Pixel treatment?

The FDA approved Pixel fractional resurfacing procedure gives excellent results without the discomfort or the need for lengthy recuperation. The next generation of laser resurfacing helps to improve skin texture, tone and firmness, smooths wrinkles, and reduces the pore size and scars, including acne scars without the downtime and discomfort associated with other surfacing lasers.

What areas can be treated with Pixel?

Any skin area can be treated with surface irregularities, including superficial and deep wrinkles, fine lines around the eyes, dark circles around the eyes, acne scars, acne, Melasma and deep pigmentation, including age spots. Common areas treated include the face, neck, chest, thighs, hands and arms.

What does the Pixel treatment involve?

Typically the treatment involves 3-6 sessions lasting 10-15 minutes at 2-4 weekly intervals. Immediately after treatment, you feel a slight tingling sensation, and the skin may appear red. You may experience a little swelling in the treated area for 1-2 days. As new skin replaces the treated tissue, your skin will flake- a sign that the skin rejuvenation is occurring. Once flaking is over, your skin will look better and show more improvement over the next weeks with full effect at about 3 months.

Pixel can be used in clients of all ages (18 years and over) and all skin types. Treatment can be performed on the skin on the face, including the upper and lower eyelids and the rest of the body as face, neck, chest, hands and arms.

Does the Pixel treatment hurt?

There is little or no discomfort during the treatment. Most commonly, clients feel some slight warmth with the pulse of the laser. Clients experience sunburn-like sensation afterwards (3-4 hours) that is quickly neutralised with a gentle moisturiser.

Is there any downtime with the procedure?

Typically, there is little to no downtime associated with the treatment. Makeup can be applied immediately after the treatment. Some skin flaking can be experienced on the third day or so with full recovery in about five days. Your skin will look better within days following the treatment and results steadily improve over the next few months.
