The placebo-controlled, double-blind, randomized clinical trial included 40 women between the ages of 25 and 55 with mild-to-moderate clinical signs of skin aging. Researchers assessed the effects of Fillerina (hyaluronic acid 1 K Da, hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate 5 K Da, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid 50 K Da, sodium hyaluronate 200 K Da, sodium hyaluronate 2.000 K Da, sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer; Labo Cosprophar) at 3 hours after a single application and again at 7, 14 and 30 days after continuous daily use.
Treatment efficacy was found to be stronger in lessening the cheekbones skin sagging compared with face contour skin sagging, which the researchers reported may have been due to the severity of skin sagging and the extent of the two skin sites. In addition, skin tightening radio frequency accent and Botox cosmetic should be incorporated to maintain and minimize the signs facial aging.
The researchers concluded that the topical application of low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid successfully improved skin moisturization, elasticity including wrinkle depth reduction.
